UNSPOKEN DESIRES

Unspoken Desires
Tri Omega Mates 5

Daniel James, required by his alpha to attend a wolf council meeting at Vourdala Island, never expects to run into his mate, Brom McGregor. Several years ago Brom kicked him out of their pack saying he would never mate him, that he didn’t love Daniel. Running into Brom is almost more than he can handle when he knows he still loves the man.

Brom McGregor is shocked to see Daniel, the man he’s always loved and never forgotten. He’s even more shocked when his jealousy makes him to claim Daniel as his mate, especially since Brom is already married with two small children. To add to Brom’s problems, there’s a third mate, Jaryn, that Daniel doesn’t even know about, one that Brom has spent their years apart protecting.

Faced with a hunt to the death ordered by his father because he mated Daniel, Brom is forced to flee with his two small children and Jaryn. The only place he can think to go is to Daniel. Can he convince Daniel that he sent him away all those years ago to save his life even knowing that he’s putting Daniel in danger again? Will Daniel forgive him in time to save Jaryn’s life?

EXCERPT
Daniel chuckled as Lucas and Jake argued over whose lap Leyland was going to sit in. Leyland just stood to the side rolling his eyes. That seemed to be a regular occurrence with those three. Daniel had seen it time and time again since the three men had become mated.
He saw it in the other people that sat around the small fire pit as well. Ryland was curled up with his mates, Gregory and Viktor. Cary sat between his mates, Saul and Ryce. Micah sat with his mates, Caleb and Thomas. Even Sasha was curled up with Vadim.
Daniel was the odd man out. Not even Niko, Vadim’s brother and pack beta, was around. Niko was off spending time with his father. Daniel sat all alone, no mate to cuddle with. As miserable as that was, Daniel was used to his single status, even if he didn’t like it. And that fact was pretty sad.
“You’re the last unmated member of the pack, Daniel.” Leyland giggled from where he now sat in Jake’s lap. “We’re going to have to find you a mate now. There are plenty of single men on the island to pick from.”
Daniel gave Leyland a half smile. “I’m good, Leyland, but thank you.”
Sasha scoffed at Daniel from his position on Vadim’s lap. “Daniel, how can you say that? Having a mate is, well, it’s everything we search for our entire lives. We need our mates.”
This so wasn’t a conversation Daniel wanted to have. “I’m fine, I promise you.”
“Daniel, you’re not fine,” Leyland argued. “You need to find your mate. You need to have the bond that a mate brings to you.”
Daniel grimaced. “Please, Leyland, let’s just drop it.”
“Daniel—” Leyland started only to be interrupted by Jake.
“Baby, you need to drop it,” Jake said. Daniel sent him a grateful smile. “Daniel will find his mate when it’s time.”
Daniel’s gaze looked out beyond the firelight as he mused over Jake’s words. He had never explained to Jake about his life with his former pack beyond saying that he had been kicked out for being gay. Some things were just too painful to discuss.
A movement out by the lake caught his eyes. Daniel looked closer. His gaze settled on the figure of a lone man walking along the edge of the lake across the meadow from where Daniel sat.
He could just make out the man’s striking face from where he sat, but what he couldn’t see in the fading sunlight Daniel could see in his head. He knew the man had a strong masculine face, blond hair the color of straw, and eyes as blue as the deepest ocean.
A scar ran from the corner of the man’s left eye down to the edge of his square jaw line. The soft smattering of hair across his muscular pecs was dark brown. It matched the dark shadow that always seemed to be on his face no matter how often he shaved.
The hands he had shoved into the pocket of his jeans were thick and callused from hard work. Daniel knew that as rough as they were, they could be soft and gentle and drive a lover to distraction.
And the deep raspy voice that could whisper sweet nothings enough to make someone swoon could deliver a killing blow, ripping the heart out of even the strongest man. Daniel knew because it had happened to him.
His eyes never wavered from the lone figure, even as he clenched the beer bottle in his hand until the brown glass shattered. He barely heard the gasps of those around him, the words of concern. He only saw the man walk away until he was out of Daniel’s sight.
“Daniel?”
Daniel looked down to see Leyland kneeling at his feet, concern written all over his face. It was only then that Daniel realized that he had a broken beer bottle in his bloody hand. He swore under his breath and shook his hand free of any loose glass.
He used the firelight to light his hand and pulled out any remaining glass. Pulling his shirt over his head, he wrapped it around his hand. He felt like an idiot. Daniel climbed to his feet with the intention of leaving his circle of friends before he embarrassed himself any more. He had walked just beyond the edge of light when Leyland’s voice stopped him.
“Is he mad at me? I didn’t mean to make him mad. Was it because I kept telling him he needed to find his mate?” Leyland’s quiet voice wavered as he spoke. Daniel knew he couldn’t let Leyland think it was something he had done.
“No, Leyland, it was nothing you said,” Daniel said quietly.
“I’m sorry if I upset you, Daniel,” Leyland said quickly. “I guess I’m just so happy with Jake and Lucas that I want everyone to feel that way. I want everyone to find their mate.”
Daniel’s eyes strayed to the edge of the lake again. He desperately searched the area for one last look of the man that haunted his dreams. Or maybe they were his nightmares. When he found none, he turned and smiled weakly at Leyland.
“I already found my mate, Leyland, several years ago.” Daniel looked down at the ground before anyone could see the tears gathering in the corner of his eyes. He would be so embarrassed if anyone found out how much misery that that statement caused him.
“You’ve already found your mate?” Leyland cried out.
Daniel nodded, not lifting his head. “You remember that man at the pier, the tall one with the straw colored hair and deep blue eyes? He was talking with Gregory and Viktor when we arrived. His name is Brom McGregor. He’s my mate.”
“If he’s your mate, then why in the hell aren’t you two together? Doesn’t he know you’re mates?” Leyland asked.
Daniel smirked. “He knows.”
“Then why—”
Daniel looked up at Leyland. He tried to smile at Leyland but knew he had failed miserably when Leyland’s sad little eyes looked back at him. Daniel felt a single tear fall down his cheek. “He doesn’t want me.”

DARK SIDE OF THE VEIL

Dark Side of the Veil

Dark Court 1

Available Monday, March 1st

Zack Banning hasn't had an easy time of it recently. After spending more than fifteen years in the Marines, he's discharged due to a head injury received in combat. With no missions to run or people to save, it's all he can do to get out of bed in the mornings. The pills the doctors have him on to keep his injury-induced delusions at bay don't help the situation.

When he discovers a young man being accosted outside of a bar one night he sees it as a chance to feel the satisfaction of saving someone once again. He just doesn't realize until it's over that the young man came to the bar to warn him that someone is out to kill him. What Eljin tells him is a story so outlandish, Zack begins to wonder if he's having one of his delusions. Because if Eljin's story is true, the entire foundation of everything Zack believes just flew out the window.

Fleeing through the countryside with Eljin, Zack tries to understand everything without telling the man he's nuttier than a fruitcake. But the more time Zack spend with Eljin, the more he wants him until he can't think of ever being separated from the little elf.

The only way to save Eljin is to take him back home—through the veil between the two worlds. Arrival on the elf's side of the veil isn't perfect, however. They encounter a war between the elf worlds, the threat of human invasion, and a bias against humans. Zack and Eljin have to keep their wits about them as they try to save their home, their family, and themselves.

EXCERPT
“I’m sorry.” The words echoed in Zack’s mind for what must be the millionth time. He heard them when he closed his eyes, when he had them open, all the time. It had been that way for weeks now. Just when he thought he’d gotten past the words, he heard them in his mind again. And he didn’t have the foggiest idea why. He just couldn’t seem to stop hearing those two little words.
Zack took another long sip of his beer then cradled the brown bottle between his hands. There was only one thing that disturbed him more than hearing those two words over and over again…the deep azure eyes that looked at him with such sadness when the words were spoken.
Zack didn’t know who belonged to the deep blue eyes he saw in his dreams because every time he tried to find the memory in his mind his head started to ache. If he persisted, horrific agonizing pain ripped through him.
The injury he suffered on a combat mission wasn’t life threatening but he had suffered a head trauma from a bomb exploding feet from where he stood. The doctors said he had short term memory loss due to his injury and he might experience delusions for the rest of his life. Zack could only conclude that was why he had such weird dreams, a side effect of his brain trauma.
Shaking his head, Zack ran his hand through his short black hair. It was an easy gesture. His hair was still cropped close to his scalp. He might have been out of the service for a few months but years of training were hard to dismiss. He kept his hair short out of habit.
Maybe he’d never find out who said I’m sorry or why. Maybe it was all some dream he had brought on by the injuries he’d received in combat. Maybe it was something he’d made up in his mind. Zack just didn’t know.
Zack swallowed down the last of his beer and stood to his feet. Hanging out in some backwater bar and getting drunk might sound good but it wouldn’t solve his problems. More than likely it would just give him another headache and he’d suffered enough of those in the last three months to last him a lifetime.
Zack got to his feet and grabbed his black leather jacket, pulling it on over his shoulders. He tossed a couple of dollars down on the table and walked toward the door. Stopping on the steps outside, he started to zip up his jacket when he heard a small whimper and the sounds of a scuffle coming from the side of the building.
He knew he shouldn’t get involved. He’d only been out of the hospital for a few weeks. He had no business getting involved but fifteen years of protecting people was hard to ignore. It was something ingrained in a marine. Resigned to the coming battle, Zack walked around the corner of the building.
He wasn’t surprised to find three rather large men harassing a much smaller one. That’s usually how it happened. Assholes tended to run in packs and attack people that they could easily intimidate.
What did amaze him was how well the smaller man was fighting them off. Zack wouldn’t have been surprised to find that the man had some sort of formal defensive training. However, all of his movements seemed to defensive rather than offensive. That told Zack that the man didn’t want to fight. He just wanted to get away with his body intact.
The military outfits the three attackers wore didn’t register with Zack until he grabbed the first guy and took a swing at him. They were all dressed in full nighttime combat gear, the type only issued to military combat units. They even wore night goggles.
Zack knew immediately that there was more going on here than a simple mugging. These men were military and they were after the smaller guy for some unknown reason. That still didn’t mean that Zack was going to let it happen. His gut told him that the small blond haired guy was innocent and in deep need of his help.
The first guy Zack hit went down without protest, too surprised to fight back. The second guy wasn’t so easy. He heard the first man fall and quickly turned to fight Zack, his body lowering into a defensive stance. Zack grinned. It had been a long time since he’d had the chance to get into a good fight.
He aimed his fist at the man’s face at the same time he swiped his foot out at the man’s legs. Both connected but didn’t take the man down. Zack quickly spun around, aiming his next kick toward the man’s head. This one connected much to Zack’s satisfaction. He hadn’t lost his edge.
The man fell to the ground, landing on his hands and knees. Before he could get up, Zack attacked again, kicking the man in the head. This time when the man went down, he didn’t get up again.
Before Zack could silently celebrate his triumph he felt a solid hit land on his back. Zack ignored the pain radiating through his body and turned to see the last man standing behind him. He grinned again, watching the man’s eyes widen at his easy smile before decking him straight in the face.
Blood splattered from the man’s nose and covered his face. Zack used the distraction to hit again and again until the man fell back away from him. Zack pressed his advantage, hitting and kicking out at the man until he went down and didn’t move again.
He took just a moment to check for the man’s pulse before turning toward the form huddled against the wall. Zack inhaled sharply as eyes as blue as the deep sea met his. For a moment he thought the man might be the one from his dreams then the man blinked and the illusion was gone.
Zack scooted over closer to the man, holding a hand out to him. He tried to keep his stance as non-threatening as possible. “My name is Zack,” he said softly. “I’m not going to hurt you. I just want to make sure you’re okay.”
The man looked hesitant. His hands trembled as he rubbed them up and down his arms. He was pale, his skin almost translucent in the moonlight. The fear in his wide eyes concerned Zack the most. It would be hard to check the man over if he was afraid.
What he did see didn’t tell him much. The man wore an overly large hoody, baggy jeans, and a knit cap down over his head. Zack could tell he had long white blond hair because he could see the braid hanging over his shoulder. Other than that, Zack couldn’t even tell how big the man was. The clothes he wore made him pretty much shapeless.
“I’m not going to hurt you.”
“You already said that,” the man whispered.
Zack frowned. The man’s voice sounded almost lyrical in nature, soft and light, like a bird might make. It also sounded like the voice in his head. If Zack didn’t feel the aches and pains in his body from his fight he might think he was hallucinating. The doctors said delusions might be a possibility.

Jamie and Troy have to work together to save not only Nicky but themselves but can they save Nicky in time or will Troy lose the most intriguing man he's ever met?

EXCERPT
A quiver surged through Troy as the man reached out to him, his delicate hand gripping Troy’s. Troy watched the man turn his hand over then he grabbed Troy’s other hand, turning this one over as well. He was confused by the man’s movements but refused to break the sensuous spell that grew between them.

“No ring.” The man’s voice held a gentle softness that wrapped around Troy and gave him a sense of peace he couldn’t remember ever feeling. “Boyfriend? Significant other? Lover?”

Troy shook his head, afraid to put sound to his response in case it stopped the sexy little man from doing whatever he wanted to do. No, he most definitely did not have a boyfriend, significant other, or lover. But he was willing to entertain the possibility.

“Looking?”

Troy nodded, unable to tear his hungry gaze away from the gorgeous face in front of him. The man’s hand rested on his chest at the opening of his button down shirt. His fingers twined in the soft smattering of brown hair visible there.

“This is very sexy. Is there more?” The man shuddered when Troy nodded. “I’d really like to find out where it leads.”

This time, Troy shuddered. The mere idea of this man discovering where the trail of hair down his chest and abdomen led to made Troy’s cock so hard he hurt. “I’d love to show you,” he murmured.

“My name is Nicky but you can call me anything you want.”

Troy smiled and reached for the man. “My name’s Troy. I’d like to call you swe—” The smile suddenly fell from Troy’s face as the man’s name sank into his foggy brain. “Did you say your name was Nicky? As in Nicky Everson?”

The man’s head tilted to one side, a frown making his dark brown eyebrows draw together. “Yes, my name is Nicky Everson. How did you know?”

“Well shit!” Troy exclaimed as took a step back until he’d put a respectful distance between them. “I’m Troy, Troy Summers, Jamie’s partner.”

Nicky looked confused for a moment then his mouth suddenly dropped open and his face grew pale. He took his own step back from Troy. The distance between them seemed as wide as the Grand Canyon. “You’re Jamie’s partner?”

Troy nodded.

The sensuous light that sparkled in Nicky’s eyes since he walked in dimmed, leaving behind a dull blue that tore at Troy’s heart.

“I’m sorry,” Nicky whispered, his head dipping down toward his chest. “I didn’t know who you were. Please forgive me.”

Troy reached for Nicky, stopping when the man jerked back. “It’s no problem.”

“Where’s Jamie?”

“He went to the bathroom. He should be out any second.”

Nicky’s delicate hands fluttered at his neck as his gaze darted around the room. “I guess I’ll just go wait for him over here.” Nicky took a few steps away then paused, glancing over his shoulder at Troy. “It was nice meeting you.”

Troy nodded, at a loss for words. He felt Nicky’s departure like an open wound in his chest. He wanted to cry out in frustration as he watched Nicky cross the room, leaving Troy standing more alone than he ever felt before.
